ABSTRACT

Knowledge management systems enable teachers and students to interact directly in the knowledge transfer process during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, applying the gamification concept in vocational disciplines could enhance the quality of teaching to increase motivation and student learning outcomes which tend to decline. Octalysis Framework, which supports the gamification concept, consists of eight cores that focus on creativity, self-expression, social dynamics, logic, thinking, and ownership depicted in an octagon making an application more fun and helpful to motivate users to enjoy and be involved in an activity. This condition is crucial and urgent in the Covid-19 pandemic that requires online and student-centered learning. This study discussed the application of Octalysis Framework-based Gamification in a Computer Learning Knowledge Management system in Vocational High Schools during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The Gamification concept with the Octalysis Framework was implemented in the Knowledge Management System. Some game mechanics in a non-game context consisting of four phases, namely the Discovery, Onboarding, Scaffolding, and Endgame was applied to improve student performance and motivation in learning. Meanwhile, The Knowledge Management System software achieved an overall quality score of 5.14 out of 6 (85.6 percent of quality achieved) covering functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability characteristics of the ISO 9126 quality indicator. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to determine the exploitation potential in internship practices experienced by female vocational students due to the weak bargaining position of students and the imbalance in the relationship between the school and the company. Theoretically, the phenomenon of exploitation experienced by female students who intern in the industrial sector can be associated with tactical capitalism that is intertwined with the education sector. This study was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, where internship opportunities in the industrial sector for vocational students were still limited. However, this study can still show the potential for exploitation of female students even though the opportunity to take part in internships in the industrial sector is still not wide open for them. This research used mixed methods, where data is collected using quantitative methods through survey research, followed by in-depth qualitative methods. The research was conducted in four regencies in East Java, including Tuban, Mojokerto, Sidoarjo, and Ngawi. The sample consisted of 271 female students studying in vocational high schools and participating in internships in the business sectors. The results indicate that: (1) female vocational high school students feel threatened because they are forced to work in places that do not match their vocational skills;(2) the working hours during the internship are not consistent with the agreement between the school and the company because they tend to exceed the regular limit on working hours;(3) during the internships, they are often asked to work in the same company, but in a workplace that is not in line with what has been determined at the time of the employment agreement with the school;(4) during the internships, they are asked to work as employees of the company with the same working hours as permanent employees, but they do not receive a salary, and this can be considered as a form of economic exploitation which can also be one of the triggering factors for mental health disturbances for female students participating in internships © 2022,Journal of International Women''s Studies. All Rights Reserved.

ABSTRACT

In order to improve the quality of youth in entrepreneurship. Schools managements need to know the entrepreneurial intention (EI) of their students. A past study systematic review findings showed that EI measurement has to be improved. To the best ability, this is the contribution of this study and a novel strategy that may pave the way for further research in this area in the future. Thereupon, this study aims for scale development specially for youth in vocational school context and determine the dimensionality of items measuring the EI construct. This study also conducted bibliometric analysis. Research tools used were SPSS version 24 and VOS viewer. The validation used Modified Delphi Method for content and face validity with seven panelists, meanwhile Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) for construct validity was administered to 100 students in 23 vocational high schools (VHS), using questionnaires. The initial items were analyzed using Fleiss Kappa Index (FKI) and Content Validity Index (CVI) that consist of I-CVI and S-CVI. However, the I-CVI achieved the criteria, S-CVI is 0.898, and FKI is 0.432, then processed to the EFA procedure. The EFA identified four sub-constructs of EI with 73.729% of the total variance explained (TVE) in this study. The study found that the instrument is valid and reliable in measuring the values aspect of EI. The study’s findings could be of interest to the governments, schools managements, and other researchers. It will enable those parties to analyze which factorsare needed to enhance the quality and successful youth in entrepreneurship post-covid-19. © 2022, SRAC - Romanian Society for Quality.
